Daily Sightings

So I’ve decided to finally jump on board the Instagram train.  Have been on it for a bit now, but have been trying to use it as much as possible lately.  My intent isn’t to  use it for posting old photos or anything, but more as a way to post random daily sightings or whatever...

Windgate Ranch Festival of Speed 2012 Apr02

Windgate Ranch Festival of Speed 2012

When spring rolls around in the Phoenix valley, there are two events I always look forward to.  The Windgate Ranch Festival of Speed, put on by Scuderia Southwest, is one of them.  I’ve been in attendance for all four years and even worked to promote the inaugural event, shooting promotional photos and designing a website, posters and other materials… so, suffice to say, it’s an event I care about.  And, with each consecutive year, the event just gets better and better.  With relatively little exposure from the media and attention from the local automotive community, it manages to gather some of the very best cars of any event of the year and lots of them. Personal highlights this...

Several years ago I was tasked with shooting a very special car out in the Midwest.  Even during the short flight over I wasn’t completely certain what I was shooting and it wasn’t until arriving at the garage that morning that I knew the subject of shoot was this beautiful white...

Inaugural Penske Cars and Coffee – Scottsdale Mar26

Inaugural Penske Cars and Coffee – Scottsdal...

When I heard that  Penske Automotive Group Phoenix was putting together their own monthly Cars and Coffee event at their Penske Auto Mall (along with a sister event in Chandler the same day), I knew I had to be there.  Not only because with backing like that, it’s bound to become a quality event, but also because it’s a great location for such an event.  Being just off the 101 and at a dealership lot (purpose built to display a large quantity of cars), it’s perfect for an event where there are a lot of cars and people coming and going and a lot to see.  Doesn’t hurt that those cars are displayed in front of a first rate racing museum that is sandwiched between luxury and exotic car...

1992 Ferrari 348 TB Through Three Lenses Mar14

1992 Ferrari 348 TB Through Three Lenses

At February’s Scuderia Southwest Cars and Coffee I was lucky enough to be invited by a friend and fellow photographer to tag along and shoot an incredible 2012 Lamborghini Aventador.  March’s event rolled around and I was able to setup a similar situation, but with a little twist.  Otis Blank told me he was on his way up from Tuscon for Cars and Coffee and I knew Ashwin Gupta, who helped setup and also shot the Aventador, was very likely to be at the event as well, I began looking for cars to shoot.  My friend John was kind enough to take his beautiful 1992 Ferrari 348 TB to a couple locations for us to shoot, which was a long time coming.  I’ve known John for years, I’ve seen him...

One Bull, 700 Horses – Lamborghini Aventador Feb12

One Bull, 700 Horses – Lamborghini Aventador

With most of the photo shoots that I do, they are planned well in advance, usually months, and the car is usually one I’ve been eying even longer.  But, every now and then, I just find myself in the right place at the right time.  Or, know the right people and see them at the right time.  That is the case with this particular photo shoot, this stunning Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4.  I was out at Cars and Coffee when a friend and fellow photographer approached me and told me that they were heading out to shoot the car and asked if I would like to tag along.  Of course, I leapt at the opportunity and the photos that follow are the result. Cars and Coffee, Feb...

For about the first three years of Cars and Coffee in Scottsdale, I didn’t miss a single event.  I was at the very first of both the now long gone event hosted by (the now long gone) Scottsdale Exotic Car Club and the still thriving event hosted Scuderia Southwest, back when it was just...

330 GTC SOLD at Russ...

At Ferrari’s annual press conference in 1964, Enzo had a surprise up his sleeve; the introduction of the everyday Ferrari. Received with great fanfare, the new 330 could stand the daily stop-and-go grind, yet was still packed with the excitement that is expected of a Ferrari. Making its...

Russo and Steele Scottsdale 2012

For a number of years now, I’ve been fortunate enough to be Russo and Steele’s official photographer for their annual Scottsdale auction.  Even before I was, it was always one of my favorite auctions in the valley.  It’s always had a very unique auction block with a consistently interesting mix of automobiles driving across it, leading to very exciting nights with some very special metal finding new homes.  This year was no exception and, once again, my position allowed me to have access to all of the action.  Check out some of the top sellers below, along with some of my favorite photos of the event. 1968 Chevrolet L-88 Corvette Roadster – Sold: $687,500.00 – WORLD...

Lexus LFA

I’ve been following the LFA project since the very first concept was introduced way back in 2005 and, unlike many, I’ve been a staunch supporter for the six year development.  My first car was a ’91 Toyota MR2 Turbo and my first car in Arizona was an ’87 Toyota MR2. ...

Russo and Steele Scottsdale 12 Pre-Auction Preview Jan16

Russo and Steele Scottsdale 12 Pre-Auction Preview

With Russo and Steele’s annual Scottsdale auction right around the corner, I took a bit of time to take a walk around, taking a few quick snapshots along the way.  Setup was still under way and many of the cars hadn’t arrived at the auction site yet, but there was still plenty to look at.  Nothing too out of the ordinary in this year’s auction from what I’ve seen so far, but it’s still looking like a very solid lineup of cars, as usual.  In addition the the countless muscle cars and American classics that everyone has come to expect in the Scottsdale auctions, there’s a very healthy sprinkling of modern and classic European cars, high-end customs and hot rods and the...
