1955 300SL Gullwing Coupe
Probably no other car in the post-war era was more important to any manufacturer than the Mercedes-Benz 300SL “Gullwing” coupes. Born and raised on the race track where greats like Juan Manual Fangio, Sir Stirling Moss and Phil Hill took these cars to victory after victory, they represented a new era of progress in West Germany and for the company represented by the tri-star and the Laurel. should you take ivermectin on an empty stomach
In October 1955, this stunning example rolled off the assembly line in Germany and was placed on a boat bound for the port of New York where it was delivered to its first owner. With the sheet metal stripped to bare metal and all issues were addressed resulting in a coupe that is every bit as good as it was when it left the factory in Stuttgart-Unterturkheim.
For engine and transmission work, Mercedes expert Bill Richardson was called in. Upon opening the engine, he found it was just as it had come from the factory, after which he performed a complete overall replacing all bearings, valves, pistons and other components insuring this engine would perform just as it had been designed to do. New synchros were installed in the transmission which was mated up to a new clutch. Prior to the installation of the motor, a modern R134 air-conditioning system was installed where no extra holes had to be placed in the firewall or the body, with cool air directed through existing ducts. Once the engine was back in place, the compressor was neatly hidden as were all hoses and other related parts
