Windgate Ranch Festival of Speed 2013 Mar23

Windgate Ranch Festival of Speed 2013

Each year there are a few events that stand out and I feel I can’t miss. The Windgate Ranch Festival of Speed is one of those events. I shot the promotional photos and built the website for for the very first Festival of Speed years ago and haven’t missed it since. I always expect good things, but each year it just gets better and better and this year was no exception. If Enzos and Aventadors and Veyrons weren’t enough, there was no shortage of what I really love seeing out at these events, stunning classic cars. A Jaguar D-Type, Jaguar XK-SS, Ferrari 500 TR, Ferrari 750 Monza, Lister and others were just a small portion of the amazing classic cars out there. Click HERE to view the...

Cars and Coffee, Sep...

Well, a little late to add these photos, but the September 2012 Scuderia Southwest Cars and Coffee had an amazing turnout, as usual. Far too nice of a turnout to not post more photos. While I love Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing in stripped down form and always enjoy seeing an Alfa Romeo...

Cars and Coffee, July 2012

After missing June’s monthly Cars and Coffee event in Scottsdale, Arizona, I knew I had to make it out to the July’s.  Like just about every month since its creation years ago, it didn’t disappoint. Click HERE to view the FULL GALLERY (22...

Windgate Ranch Festival of Speed 2012

When spring rolls around in the Phoenix valley, there are two events I always look forward to.  The Windgate Ranch Festival of Speed, put on by Scuderia Southwest, is one of them.  I’ve been in attendance for all four years and even worked to promote the inaugural event, shooting promotional photos and designing a website, posters and other materials… so, suffice to say, it’s an event I care about.  And, with each consecutive year, the event just gets better and better.  With relatively little exposure from the media and attention from the local automotive community, it manages to gather some of the very best cars of any event of the year and lots of them. Personal highlights this...

Inaugural Penske Cars and Coffee – Scottsdale Mar26

Inaugural Penske Cars and Coffee – Scottsdal...

When I heard that  Penske Automotive Group Phoenix was putting together their own monthly Cars and Coffee event at their Penske Auto Mall (along with a sister event in Chandler the same day), I knew I had to be there.  Not only because with backing like that, it’s bound to become a quality event, but also because it’s a great location for such an event.  Being just off the 101 and at a dealership lot (purpose built to display a large quantity of cars), it’s perfect for an event where there are a lot of cars and people coming and going and a lot to see.  Doesn’t hurt that those cars are displayed in front of a first rate racing museum that is sandwiched between luxury and exotic car...

Cars and Coffee, February 2012 Feb05

Cars and Coffee, Feb...

For about the first three years of Cars and Coffee in Scottsdale, I didn’t miss a single event.  I was at the very first of both the now long gone event hosted by (the now long gone) Scottsdale Exotic Car Club and the still thriving event hosted Scuderia Southwest, back when it was just...

Valley Sightings, December Dec29

Valley Sightings, December

Local Motors Rally Fighter Over the past couple months I’ve been trying to keep more of an eye out for random car sightings at times when I may be able to snap a quick shot.  Sometimes it takes a bit of looking, but other times they drive right up to me and are pretty damn hard to miss.  That was the case with this Local Motors Rally Fighter.  While I have seen a different Rally Fighter out at a couple of events, seeing one randomly on the street is a completely different experience.  Without question it has as much road presence as just about anything else I’ve ever seen out and about.  Interesting seeing such a big, burly car with a license plate filling up at the gas station.  How do you...

Cars and Coffee, November 2011

Of all the automotive events in the Phoenix valley, Scuderia Southwest’s Cars and Coffee event has long been one of my very favorites. I was there for the very first one and didn’t miss a month for years. However, that’s changed for me and it’s been increasingly difficult to make the drive down to Scottsdale for the Saturday morning gathering. So whenever I’m able to make it out, I’m excited. But, when the weather is prime for photography, I’m even more excited. The cars never fail to disappoint and you’ll always find plenty of passionate owners and enthusiasts more than happy to talk about all things automotive. Check out the links below to see my photos from...

Something Wicked This Way Comes… Oct31

Something Wicked This Way Comes…

For Halloween this year, I present a small automotive treat.  When I realized I knew the owners of each of these cars, I knew what had to be done and I knew exactly how I wanted to do it. With nearly identical color scheme and a very similar concept and approach, this Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and Porsche 911 GT3 RS seemed like a natural match. Both amped up and stripped down versions of more common and more tame base cars, they’re the evil twins of the automotive world and unabashedly aggressive in both visually and mechanically. AVENTADOR! AVENTADOR! Oct22

AVENTADOR! AVENTADOR!

While out and about with my camera, I happened to swing by the local Lamborghini dealership and to my surprise, I saw this brilliant white bull through the dealership windows.  While I did know that at least one Aventador had been in town for nearly two months now, this was my first time seeing one and… wow.  I liked it in photos, but like so many things, you really have to see it in person to fully appreciate it.  Finished in matte “Bianco” white (a fourteen THOUSAND dollar option) it was absolutely stunning.  I always feel like white is a telling color for a car.  It can either make it look like an appliance or a work of art and in the case of this particular Lamborghini, it makes it...

1962 Ferrari 250 GTO at Cars and Coffee Oct04

1962 Ferrari 250 GTO at Cars and Coffee

While a large number of rare and beautiful cars made their way out to to the October’s Scuderia Southwest Cars and Coffee, a stunning blue ’62 Ferrari 250 GTO (serial number 3387) was without a doubt the star of the show. It’s the second GTO produced and was raced at Sebring in March of ’62 where it placed second over all and first in GT with Phil Hill and Oliver Gendebien behind the wheel. It later raced at Le Mans in June of ’62 and then went on to race in NART and by a privateer after that and is one of very few GTOs raced as a factory team car. It’s been repainted a number of times since it was built and received a number of minor cosmetic changes at those times, but...

Numerous New Shoots

1994 Ferrari 512 TR The Ferrari 512TR is greatly reworked and improved compared to the earlier Testarossa to the point in which it is almost an entirely new car. With the 512TR the engine’s output has been increased to 423hp (~ 37-47hp more than the earlier Testarossa) through higher compression pistons, Nikasil cylinder liners, larger intake valves, a revised intake system, Bosch engine management and a revised exhaust system. This particular 512TR’s output has been further increased with a Capristo Level 3 exhaust. The 512TR’s handling has been greatly improved when compared to the Testarossa by repositioning the engine and gearbox along with lower profile tires, revised shocks and quicker...
